Canon 1D mkIV – Still any good

Thanks to www.BookaTrack.com for the picture

It’s been over a year since I first received my Canon 1D mkIV and you’ve probably read my previous blog entries about it. I’d previously owned 1D mkII, 1D mkIIn and 1D mkIII bodies and it’s fair to say that Canon has pulled out all the stops with it’s 1D mkIV body. But, there’s a catch.. Continue reading

A new angle – Time to turn over a new leaf

As you may of noticed if you’re reading this article, it’s been a while since we last posted anything on this website.

After much thought, we’ve decided to change our approach and combine the latest technology news/press releases with hands on previews/reviews of technology we’ve been lucky enough to try (and not necessarily own). Continue reading

Lack of light – when iPhones go wrong

iPhone 3GS

As you know, both Sally and myself are users of the great but rather expensive iPhone 3GS. We’ve been using the iPhone 3GS since the beginning of 2010, with us previously using the brilliant iPhone 3G. The only problems till this week have mainly consisted of various software bugs, O2 network quirkiness and user error. Clearly rather good all in one

It’s now been over a month since I bought a new a new ‘all in one’ printer/scanner/fax/copier type thing, and I have to say that I’ve been really rather impressed. The kind of thing I was after consisted of an active subwoofer and some small satellite speakers, which could easily be hooked up to a PC or iPod, and wouldn’t really mater if it got destroyed in a wild student party (but still had to sound good as I was associated with the specification and purchase). I’d been going round and round in circles and eventually ended up looking on eBay of all places. Continue reading

Bit of a beast

It’s now been well over the a year since I switched from using a Yamaha AV amplifier, after years of trouble free operation. The reason for switching to Onkyo wasn’t due to failure of the Yamaha, but more to do with lack of features. The one feature the big old Yamaha DSP-AX2 was missing wasn’t even sound related either, so let me explain. Continue reading

The web at its best

Going back a few years, I was having problems with my internet connection. It would work fine when only I wanted to use the internet, but when more than one person wanted access, things would grind to a halt. If was uploading photos, downloading files at the same time wasn’t possible. The speed of my Broadband connection wasn’t the issue as we recieved the maximum possible of 8mbps download and 0.5mbps upload, so something else was causing the problem. Continue reading
